Law in Crisis?

We are delighted to invite you to the Opening Event of the Horizon Europe project “Law in Crisis – Judicial Cultures of Independence and Their Meaning for the Rule of Law Compliance (JCILC).”

Bringing together partners from France, Italy, Poland and Israel, the project explores how legal cultures shape judicial independence, public trust and the resilience of the rule of law in Europe. Drawing on the Law as Culture paradigm, it examines law as a cultural practice shaped by social values, traditions and collective experiences, combining legal, cultural and empirical perspectives

The public event features a morning session (10:00–13:15) with an opening talk on “The Rule of Law as Culture,” perspectives from the Scientific Advisory Board and sister projects, and insights from the European Commission. The evening session begins at 20:00 with keynote speeches and a discussion.
